NEW ‘MUSIC IN SCHOOLS’ INITIATIVE

THE ARTS COUNCIL for Monterey County celebrates Youth Arts Month by launching a campaign to restore the arts to every school. ACMC executive director Paulette Lynch explains, “After nearly a generation of valiantly struggling with less and less time and less if any funding, people who care about the arts and education in California now have a unique opportunity to create the new normal: high quality arts programs for every student wherever they may live.” Lynch cites several important new developments, “We are starting this year with Music for All Monterey which will become a template for other districts in the county.” To read her entire press release, click HERE

RICHARD SCHEININ, one of the most valuable music critics in Northern California—as at home with jazz as classical—has been reassigned to write about real estate. The Merc announced that it plans to use free-lancers in place of Scheinin. The move is guaranteed to lose subscribers.
