BACH FESTIVAL DETAILS

Our Performing Arts People person this week is John Koza, director of the Festival Youth Chorus. Click HERE.

So far as I know, artistic director Paul Goodwin is the first musician to carefully test the LARES sound enhancement system at Sunset Auditorium, who actually made the effort to tune, find the sweet spot, then use it to the advantage of both musicians and audiences. Past experiments somehow always seemed to come up with bizarre distortions.

For the first time since the renovated Sunset Center opened in 2003, old Festival friends Robert and Mary Commanday attended the Main Concerts over the weekend. Bob Commanday was until he retired the longtime music critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, and, later, founded the San Francisco Classical Voice website. Mary Commanday was a Festival cellist back when Sandor Salgo was music director. I think I can safely say they were quite impressed by the facility.
